Responsible advertising · Independent journalism

Reach readers without compromising trust.

Ireland Newspaper offers carefully reviewed advertising opportunities for suitable businesses, organisations and public-interest campaigns seeking to reach readers across Ireland. Our editorial content remains free to access, and commercial relationships do not purchase favourable reporting, editorial influence or coverage.

Our standard: Advertising must be lawful, accurate, clearly identifiable and compatible with the trust readers place in an independent online newspaper. Every campaign is reviewed before acceptance, and availability is confirmed only in writing.

Strict non-acceptance policy

Advertising we do not accept

Ireland Newspaper has adopted exclusions that are stricter than merely asking whether an advertisement may be legally permissible. The following categories are not accepted for paid promotion.

Not accepted

No advertising for bookmakers, sports betting, casinos, online casinos, gaming for money, lotteries, bingo, betting tips, odds, gambling affiliates, sign-up offers or comparable gambling services.

No indirect promotion: These exclusions also apply to affiliate campaigns, sponsorships, advertorials, competitions, discount codes, brand extensions, surrogate advertising and other arrangements whose effect is to promote a prohibited product or service indirectly. The policy concerns paid advertising and does not restrict independent news reporting or public-interest journalism about gambling, alcohol, tobacco, addiction, regulation or related industries.

Publication standards

Clear, accurate and recognisable advertising

Clear identification

Paid material must be labelled using an appropriate term such as “Advertisement”, “Sponsored” or “Paid Partnership”. Presentation must not mislead readers into believing commercial material is independent editorial reporting.

Evidence-based claims

The advertiser must hold appropriate evidence before publication for objective, comparative, performance, environmental, health, price, savings or popularity claims.

Responsible targeting

Campaigns must be suitable for the likely audience and must not exploit children, vulnerable people, fear, inexperience, financial distress or a lack of specialist knowledge.

Transparent offers

Prices, material limitations, eligibility, availability, renewal terms, closing dates and significant conditions must be presented clearly and must remain accessible on the destination page.

Rights-cleared material

Advertisers must have the necessary rights and permissions for names, logos, trademarks, images, music, testimonials, data and other supplied material.

Safe destinations

Landing pages must match the advertisement, work securely, identify the responsible provider and avoid malware, misleading redirects or undisclosed data collection.

Booking and publication terms

Important information before a campaign is agreed

Advertiser responsibility and legal compliance

The advertiser remains responsible for the legality, accuracy and substantiation of its campaign, products, services, claims, permissions and destination pages. Our review is a publication decision and is not legal advice, regulatory approval or a transfer of the advertiser’s obligations.

Approval, refusal and withdrawal

We may request changes, decline a campaign or suspend material where concerns arise about law, accuracy, reader safety, brand suitability, technical security, complaints or compliance with this policy. Any payment or cancellation consequences are governed by the written booking terms.

Prices, availability and VAT

Rates and availability are provided individually. Unless expressly stated otherwise, an enquiry or draft proposal does not reserve inventory. Applicable VAT, production costs, special formats, payment dates and cancellation conditions will be stated in the written proposal or agreement.

Audience, delivery and performance

Traffic, placement, impressions, clicks and other figures may vary. No minimum performance, response, conversion, search ranking, revenue or editorial benefit is guaranteed unless a specific measurable commitment is expressly included in the written agreement.

Tracking, cookies and personal data

Tracking pixels, scripts, cookies, tags or similar technology require prior written approval and must comply with applicable privacy and electronic-communications requirements. Undisclosed tracking, fingerprinting or collection of sensitive data is not permitted.

Complaints and campaign records

We may retain campaign materials, approvals, correspondence, invoices, substantiation and complaint records for legitimate commercial, compliance, security and legal purposes. Concerns about an advertisement can be reported through the Ireland Newspaper contact page.

Discuss a responsible advertising campaign

Send your organisation details, campaign purpose, preferred dates, target audience and destination URL. We will review the enquiry and confirm whether an appropriate advertising opportunity may be available.
