About this bathing water

Tramore is a sandy beach (3 km long) with a gentle slope down to the low water mark and beyond. There are rock pools accessible at low tide which support a variety of marine wildlife and plant species. There is a lagoon type salt marsh which is the rarest in Ireland located at the west of the beach; there are also sand dunes located on the beach. Both features ensure the area is designated as both a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and a Special Protection Area (SPA). Activities include swimming, surfing, kite surfing and kayaking.
